Longmont Emergency Unit provides a wide scope of emergency response and technical rescue services to Boulder County and the surrounding communities. Emergency Response Services include but not limited to:
Services
Traffic Response
The LEU is often first on scene and assesses each emergency to most effectively respond to what they find. From victim extrication to traffic control, they provide whatever service is needed.
Search & Rescue
The LEU assists in search and rescue in a variety of emergencies including swift water rescue, underwater rescue and recovery and by providing manpower to augment other agencies.
Evidence Recovery
LEU assists police in the recovery of evidence through searches on land and underwater. They provide manpower, expertise, cordon off the area and provide additional lighting for night searches.
Ongoing Training
Trainee Rescuers are also expected to attend training and events as necessary to gain the experience and knowledge to advance to Apprentice Rescuer.

Accident Response and Support
Response to Traffic Accidents – Initial scene evaluation, Initial medical support (patient care), Victim Extrication, Scene Lighting, Traffic and crowd control
Fire Event Support
Fire Response
Structural / wildland response, Cascade support, Rehab operations, Medical monitoring / standby , Assisting with fire ground operations, Scene lighting
Water Rescue
Swift Water Rescue, Rescuing persons in rivers, floodwaters, or other swift water conditions. Rigging and recovery of vehicles in swift water conditions, Surface Ice Rescue – Rescue of persons and animals that have fallen through the ice, Rigging, and recovery of vehicles that are on or partially through the ice.
Rope Rescue – Cross river evacuation (highline operations) High angle operations, Low angle operations, Tower and rope access rescue
Dive Response
Dive Response- Underwater evidence search and recovery – Under ice dive operations, Rigging and recovery of vehicles underwater, Underwater victim search and recovery
