  • Early in 2006 Longmont Emergency Unit in conjunction with Boulder Emergency Squad and Boulder County Emergency Services became affiliated with Project Lifesaver International. Project Lifesaver is an organization helping locate individuals who go missing from their homes. Clients of the program are people who have mental disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Autism, and Down Syndrome that may prevent them from returning home once they leave.
LEU and BES work together when a client is reported missing by using radio receivers, directional and omnidirectional antennas to locate and close in on a signal off a wristwatch sized transmitter on the individual.
Members of LEU and BES have gone through training and certification for its members to know how to use and operate the receiver equipment and how to approach and deal with the missing person once we come in contact with them.
